Hudl, a global leader in providing cloud-based technology connecting video and data for the sports industry, has completed the acquisition of Balltime.
"By combining Hudl’s deep sports technology experience with Balltime’s AI expertise, we’re transforming our volleyball offerings, bringing faster analysis tools to athletes at every level," said Tarryn Moss, Hudl Market Director. "We believe that every team—regardless of level—should have access to simplified video capture and advanced data. By coming together, we’ll accelerate innovation and deliver powerful insights to even more coaches, analysts and athletes."
Hudl’s mission is to make every moment count, and giving teams timely access to video and data is crucial to making this a reality. In 2024 alone, Hudl provided performance data from nearly half a million volleyball matches. Hudl’s suite of volleyball solutions, including Volleymetrics, serves more than 40,000 high schools, clubs, college and national teams. Its tools allow users at any level to easily record, share game footage, analyze key player and team stats and livestream matches.
By joining forces with Balltime, volleyball teams will have faster access to detailed data like serve speed and attack height. Combined with Hudl’s analysis tools, this data will be available within minutes of walking off the court. The speed of this data empowers coaches and players to review video paired with in-depth insights to inform their upcoming matches, practice prep and fuel athlete recruitment.
Founded in 2022, Balltime has used AI to revolutionize and democratize the use of video and analytics for volleyball teams on the court and beach. “As a player myself, I set out to solve my own pain points in the sport," said Tom Raz, CTO of Balltime. “Our deep connection to volleyball led us to build pioneering technology for volleyball which fully automates stats and data for both players and teams worldwide,” added Dan Banon, CEO of Balltime.
With Balltime, athletes and coaches leverage the sports fastest turnaround times to power both practice and match prep. Instant access to data gives coaches an essential advantage when competing in tournaments and reviewing practice sessions. Balltime’s technology equips teams with comprehensive athlete data, including jump heights, ball trajectories and 3D views of plays. Their success is demonstrated by partnerships with Division I colleges and LOVB, the newest professional U.S. volleyball league. Balltime serves more than 12,000 indoor and beach volleyball teams, supporting more than 125,000 athletes.
The acquisition enhances Hudl’s comprehensive sports technology platform, which currently serves 27,000 volleyball organizations, and more than 400,000 volleyball users, from youth leagues to professionals, in 79 countries. Hudl’s product suite includes Hudl Focus auto-tracking cameras, wearable devices, and powerful software that capture video and data of every moment.
"We're combining strengths to give volleyball teams a faster, more complete understanding of their team and player data," said Hudl’s SVP Greg Nelson. "This partnership fuels even greater innovation and growth for our teams, customers, and the future of volleyball."
